What is transcription

Transcription is the process in which speech or audio is converted into a written document.   transcriptionist is a professional typist who listens to recorded or live audio files and converts it to text format what they hear.  Learning to do the work fast and efficiently will likely take some time.  Though transcription basically involves listening to an audio file and typing out what you hear, there are software that convert dictation into text and the transcriptionist has to just edit the text.  This increases the speed of transcriptionist which can in turn enhance the earnings.

Medical transcription

Medical transcription is part of the healthcare industry where the doctor dictated reports are typed in an electronic format thereby creating reports pertaining to treatment history of patients. Physicians dictates after performing surgeries on patients and Medical transcriptionist transcribes the oral dictations.  Speech recognition softwares are also used to convert the dictations into text which can be edited.

Medical transcription encompasses the MT, performing document typing and formatting functions according to an established criterion or format, transcribing the spoken word of the patient's care information into a written, easily readable form. MT requires correct spelling of all terms and words, (occasionally) correcting medical terminology or dictation errors. MTs also edit the transcribed documents, print or return the completed documents in a timely fashion. All transcription reports must comply with medico-legal concerns, policies and procedures, and laws under patient confidentiality.

Medical transcription companies convert the voice into text utilizing a method of transcription called speech or voice recognition. Speech recognition is first trained to recognize spoken words of physicians and dictation is read into the database and the program continuously "learns" the spoken words and phrases. After a certain stage, the machine learns the text and at that stage, only minor editions or deletions have to be done.

Legal transcription

Legal transcription is the process of transcribing any type of legal proceeding from the spoken word that includes audio files into a written text document that has been formatted so that the information is readily accessible when required.

Today, the legal transcription industry is growing rapidly. Legal transcription service can include transcription of depositions, testimonies, official court hearings, interrogations, client letters, legal briefs, and general legal correspondence. As mentioned, all this is done from audio recordings which include physical tapes, digital files, and video which will result in a required formatted document as per client’s specification.

 

General Transcription
